HAMMERFALL: Japanese, Mexican, South American Tour Dates Announced
April 13, 2005HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"The tour premiere in Helsinki (and Jyväskylä),Finland, last week went remarkably well! The audience was absolutely crazy, which always helps ;-),and we were all very pleased with this outing. I certainly hope we can come back to Finland before the year is over!
"Where the Finnish shows were more of the warm-up character for us, a chance to try the new songs as well as the equipment in a live setting. Next week will see the full production unveiled. I guarantee you this will be light years beyond anything we have done before. If you have a chance to go, don't skip it, because you will not see this from HammerFall during any of the summer shows. The Icebreaker festivals is an isolated thing that will not be repeated.
"In addition to Japan, the South American tour is taking shape. Here are the confirmed dates as of right now:
May 20 - Club Quattro - Osaka, Japan
May 21 - Shibuya O-East - Tokyo, Japan
May 24 - Planet Mall - San José, Costa Rica
May 26 - Hard Rock Live - Guadalajara, Mexico
May 28 - Monterrey Metal Fest - Monterrey, Mexico
May 29 - Circo Valador - Mexico City, Mexico
May 31 - Cupula del Parque O'Higgins - Santiago, Chile
"'Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken' stayed near the top 10 in Sweden also in the fifth week, coming in at #11. Again, this is pretty remarkable for a heavy metal band!
"Some of you may have been surprised last Friday, when HAMMERFALL were one of the artists performing at 'Alla Tiders Melodifestival'. We had been approached several weeks ago about participating in this, and after a quick deliberation decided to accept. They wanted us to do 'Vindarna Viskar Ditt Namn', the Swedish contribution to the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. Originally by Roger Pontare, we managed to get him to sing the song with us at this event, which helped elevate this version even further. The song, by the way, is as close to heavy metal as one of these has ever been, and our version gave the music and melodies some much-needed heaviness and energy. If you missed it, there's a replay this coming Friday at 14:00 CET."
